Aquila District Roundtable
May 10, 2018 | 7:00 - 9:00 pm
Roundtable is a district monthly meeting typically held the second Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm at Bellaire United Methodist Church (4417 Bellaire Blvd., Bellaire, TX 77401) to help unit leaders plan and carry out their own program. Roundtable is a form of supplemental training for volunteers. The objective of roundtable is to give leaders program ideas; information on policy, events, and training opportunities; and an opportunity to share experiences and enjoy fun and fellowship with other Scouting leaders. As a result of the roundtable experience, unit leaders will be inspired, motivated, informed, and able to provide a stronger program for their Scouts. Like us on Facebook.

Annual Planning: A common element of strong units is they all have a good annual program planned a year in advance. The plan is then shared with all families in the form of an annual program calendar. Two other key elements of successful units are trained leaders and having the right leaders.

Training is an important part of learning to become an effective leader. Trained leaders impact the quality of programs, leader tenure, youth tenure, and a whole lot more. A trained leader is better prepared to make the Scouting program all it can be! Every Scout deserves a trained leader. See the council training schedule for a list of additional trainings offered around the council.
The training classes are being held at Bellaire United Methodist Church (4417 Bellaire Blvd, Bellaire, TX 77401). For more information, contact Ron McAdams.
All adults who are volunteering at day camp must attend both Classroom Facilitated YPT and Day Camp Volunteer Training. All adults attending Boy Scout summer camp in the state of Texas must attend Classroom Facilitated YPT.

Excitement is waiting as Cub Scouts travel the world on a passport to adventure as they learn new skills, and make new friends. Twilight Camp is a council camp hosted by districts for Scouts entering 1st through 5th grade for the 2018-2019 school year. No matter what camp you choose, you can be sure it will be loaded with an awesome program such as BB guns, archery, sports, games, and crafts, rank advancements, Scout skills, fun and more. Twilight camp is being held at Longfellow Elementary (3617 Norris Dr, Houston, TX 77025).
Many volunteers are needed to make camp a success, so please consider volunteering. Adult volunteers can also register their non-Scouting children ages 3-5 (potty trained) in the tot lot program and girls ages 6-10. Boy Scouts and youth ages 10-13 can also volunteer with a parent. Youth and Boy Scouts age 14-17 can register as junior staff. The registration fee is $51.50 for the first Scout and $50 for each additional Scout. Adults and youth volunteers are $10. The tot-lot is $30, and girl siblings are $50. The registration fee includes a t-shirt, patch, program supplies, and water bottle.
- Late registration begins 3/15/18. A late fee of $20 will apply; patches, t-shirts and craft supplies are not guaranteed.
- Registration closes two weeks before the first day of camp.
